Anyone done it before? Or has anyone got a Racking horse?
I've got a Haruko who's I trained into a 5-gaiter (walk, trot, pace, canter and gallop).
She's still normal lol.
Here's what I mean by a tölt.
YouTube - Fast speed racking horse
And then a Racking horse.
YouTube - One of the fastest singlefooter, racking horse, in the south
They look the same but they're very different.

OMG that pony!!!! I am IN LOVE! What a little cracker.
Is the second horse a Standardbred? And is racking the same as pacing?
What exactly is the difference between a tolt and pacing? Is tolt a 4-beat gait? LeftHind-LeftFore-RightHind-RightFour? Or is it just that the action in front is completely different from a pacer's?
Anyway to answer your question, I have a Standardbred pacer!

He is great, he does absolutely everything.
This is him after his first long-distance race. He did the 10km (not that far, I know!) in 35 mins, pacing most of the way.

He is still racing at 14

He loves going driving

He's a good jumper

After winning his first ever showjumping class (coming 4th in a harness race later that day!)

I've ridden an icelandiv before, he was so lovely! Like a giant shetland :D
And I believe Tennesee Walking horses and Saddlebreds? are the ones who 'rack'

You're right! They are exactly like giant Shetlands! Do they tolt naturally or is it trained? Personally I'm not a fan of 'trained' gaits.

Icelandics tolt naturally, but the gait can be influebced with weights and such to get more knee action.

I have ridden a couple of Icelantics - a school friend used to own one. They are the most comfortable horses to be ridden. I think they are very pretty to be honest - would love to own one however they are very expensive to buy!
I heard that Iceland only lets in Icelantic pure bred horses into the country?
