I posted a few weeks ago about struggling to get my horse in an outline. I've used draw reins with a snaffle for a few weeks, and got good results.

This morning the vet came to do Chancer's teeth, this afternoon I thought I'd ride for 10 minutes in the menage, but couldn't be bothered to put a saddle on, and also rode in a hackamore in case his mouth was sore from having his teeth done.

Result!! Horse in beautiful outline, with minimum contact, at one point I was riding with just my little fingers on the reins doing walk to canters.

So the moral of the story is, chuck your bit out and leave your saddle off, don't think that I will do very well at the local show looking like this though!

 it has my vote for sure, less is defo more!!!

My YO has had to send her saddle off for repair so has been borrowing my bareback pad to ride in - her horse is going SOOOO much better in that than what he does in his expensively fitted treed saddle.

I love hearing things like this, makes hippy old me not look so silly afterall :p

some respond brilliantly to bitless, took me a bit of a leap of faith with my old horse but she was eventaully coverted to being ridden in a bosal and she went lovely in it, although i did eventaully flip back into a bit, but was more down to the rules at competition
