Oscar, 15.2hh, 15/16yr old Arab X, bright bay with 2 white socks both on off side.

Apparently bred & then owned for several years by Suzanne from her mare Jess - a liver chestnut Anglo Arab who would now be in her late 20's & is about a hand or so smaller than Oscar.

They were kept a several livery yards & private yards in Sevenoaks, Chartfarm in 2001 & then Longlands Livery Yard in Chelsfield in about 2002. Also wintered out in a field in Shoreham, Kent one year. Suzanne apparently lived in the Otford Hills area of Sevenoaks around this time.

I would like any info prior to Spring 2004 which is when the previous owner got him, probably from a dealer called Mikey Roe in Braydon, Wiltshire. Mr Roe often purchases horses from Reading Sales but i have had no luck with these routes as yet.

I have been told she had a partner called Warwick who may have been a cabbie, drove a horsebox and they often dealt in 2nd hand saddles etc.

More recently it has been suggested that Suzanne may have been a "traveller" hence not leaving any contact numbers or forwarding addresses which explains a lot!

Her old farrier tells me that she was considering moving to Oxfordshire so she may be in that area now, or possibly Somerset.

I would just like to know his true age, breeding & a bit more about him really.
Any info good or bad? or if anyone knows where Jess is now as not sure if she was also sold on or kept by Suzanne.

Thanks :D

Sparkie - Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this, my search has been on hold a bit while i sort my personal life out so only really just looked at this thread again. :ashamed:

In some of those pictures your Oscar looks VERY similar to mine other than the white markings being slightly different but you are correct about the shape of their faces being so similar... thanks for sharing :D

Still very much interested if anyone can shed any light on his breeding or history, thanks :D

Dont remember seeing this 1st time round but i know Michael Row, he is at Holmfirth auction pretty much every saturday. Not seen him since we moved away a 4/5 years ago but i've had a few youngsters off him in the past. He travels up and down the country from sale to sale and quite often goes over to the continent to pick up warmblood types and spotteds.

Hi Bex101... how well do you know him? :) As in know him as a friend or as in "know of him". I tried to call him but he never returned my calls and i wrote a letter, again no response :( Even if i could just find out Oscar came through the sales etc it might help with how to track the next step.

I wouldnt say a knew him that well really. I used to have a market stall at holmfirth so saw him every week for a good few years, enough to say hello if you know what i mean.
We moved to scotland (now yorkshire) so not seen him in several years.

He is unlikely to remember a lot of the horses. He literally travels up and down the country from Market to market. He also has fields all over the country that he has horses out in and literally just picks them up on the way to sales or drops them off if he thinks the net sale isnt a good one for the horse he just bought.

If you can get to a sale he goes to and ask for him, most dealers will point you in his direction. He is also one of the more approachable dealers........ some are a little unsavoury!

Ahh ok so that's my best plan then, get myself to a sale & approach him :) Thank you for the advice, good to know he is the approachable type, wasnt sure!

He's not one of those dealers that has a ton of colored cobs breeding like rabbits in a muddy field for meat prices. He goes to the continent quite often and buys up the warmbloods that havent made the grade, good looking horses that make cracking pony/riding club horses over here.
Whilst haggling over the price of one horses i bought off him i made the joke that he was "taking money off the baby" - i happened to have a friend with me holding a young baby. I got the price i was after but he then found me 1/2 hr later and gave me £50 back, mumbling something about the baby.
You wont find many (if any) dealers that will GIVE you money back after a sale was completed because his conscience is bothering him. (He'd already given us £5 luck money when we struck the deal too)

Have you ever posted this on arabian lines? You may have more luck there.

Aww Bex he sounds like a real softie at heart! I feel so much better about approaching him if i ever get to the sales he's at now. I'm thinking he probably wont remember him now as it's been too long but i didnt know about him back when i first got Oscar, it's taken 6 years to get this far!

Bay Chaos - i'm not a member on AL (or atleast dont think i am) but think i may have posted years ago.. will get myself over there later on and do a post, thanks for the idea :)
