Jake has been wearing a summer turnout sheet on a night for a few weeks now as the field he is in is quite open and gets very breezy.
This morning when i went to give him some hay, he felt really chilly, normally he feels warm to the touch but he was chilly. Im now wondering if i should put the medium weight rug on, its a little bit thicker than the one he is wearing now, so i cant see him getting overly hot, he isnt clipped but he isnt all that fluffy either, he has lost his summer chub too he used tio be quite stocky but he isnt anymore (he is more like how he should be) he is fine in every other way i just dont like the thought of him being cold in the open field.
Any Advice would be great, thanks!!!:)

A summer turnout wont give him much protection as they're designed to be quite airy

I would probably put on a light weight turnout that has just a little bit of fill in it, or put on a decent thickness summer sheet under the turnout he has on now

thanks, during the day he doesnt wear a rug unless it rains, i will put the thicker rug on tonight and see how he goes, the rug he has on now is waterproof etc and as i say he normally feel warm but this morning he didnt.
Thanks!!

I thought summer turnout and lightweight were the same thing? :(

Medium sounds alright, wouldn't go no thicker just yet though.

i think they are the same Rhea as ive just bought this summer lightweigh and its exactly the same as the usual lightweight he had before he trashed it!
I put the medium weight one on last night and he was nice and warm this morning :D
