View Full Version : If she wasn't unlevel with old injury, how much would she be worth?

Just purely hypothetical interest, obviously she is slightly unlevel behind due to old injury which would greatly reduce her value and anyway she isn't, and never will be for sale but :p

Willow aka Kiss Me Quick
15.1hh 13 years TB x Connemara

100% to catch, shoe, worm, traffic, load/travel (both horsebox and trailer). We sedate her to be clipped but she can be clipped without, but she worries and its a bit easier just to sedate her, but I do clip her ears, legs and tail for show season with mini clippers without sedation.
Only fault on the ground is she can be a bit marish when you do up rugs/girth, she pretends to bite (WILL bite if you aren't ready for the teeth swinging round but as long as you're prepared you can avoid it).

100% to hack alone and in company, never gets strong or silly though can be a bit spooky but suitable for a novice - my nervous mum learnt to ride on her, non-horsey boyfriend hacks her with me, novice friends have ridden her ect. Never pulls, ridden in a Dr. Cooks bitless bridle or french link snaffle.
Can have 3 weeks off and be just as fresh after that as she would be after working solidly for a week.

Does headshake but fine with nosenet or vasaline in her nostrils (for showing)

Well schooled - places/wins novice dressage, established laterial work, walk-canter, extended strides ect.
Jumps up to 3 foot 6 at home

Does very well showing, won/placed every time out this season in Riding Horse classes, qualified Sunshine Tour, Balanced horse feeds (on two occasions) and Chiltern and Thames Riders. Only attended the Chiltern & Thames Rider finals and came 3rd.

Won/placed hunter trials up to 2 foot 9, ditches, water and banks ect no problem, schooled up to 3 foot 3
Won/placed ODEs up to 2 foot 6, always in the top 3 after dressage.
Does riding club SJ, good if she's out consistently, if she's not been out for a while she spooks at fillers, but does very tight turns and has won numerous classes. Finished 6th at Chiltern & Thames SJ finals and joint 10th overall at Cricklands in April.
Won/placed up to novice dressage, scoring high 60s and has had the occasional prelim score in the 70s.
Fantastic hunter - hunts in a bitless with no martingale and doesn't pull or get silly. She's keen - she trembles before you starts but doesn't do anything silly whatsoever. Jumps anything including all the big hedges (i.e. 6 foot :P)

Done all pc activities including camp and teams. Jumped on school teams too, pairs xc, sponsored rides, beach rides ect

Photossss (none of these are pro photos, all pics my mum took or video stills)

Um, really am not sure about this one. She is a beautiful girl. If I were to ignore the unlevel bit and the headshaking, I'd say £6k or thereabouts.

wow hehe

I'm just being nosey, I mean she's not going somewhere so it doesnt matter but its just..interesting?

Quite proud now :P I bought her 5 years ago for £2.5k including brand new tack and full wardrobe when she was sound so I quite like the idea of her, hypothetically, being worth 6k :P

thanks

With the unlevelness and headshaking I would say £3k tops. Even without the problems, I wouldn't go as far as £6k. If she was totally sound I would say £4k tops.

Know of a few horses with very similar records who all sold for a max of 5k in a competative market. One headshook and he sold for 2k. With her problems, i wouldnt pay over 2k, without, maximum of about 4.5k.

Cheers, I only wanted to know without the unlevelness cos its all hypothetically ;)

HHO seems to think 5 - 6.5k so I'm gonna go with their opinion on the bases its hypothetical and I like the idea of her being worth more

thankss :)

Hi,
A little off topic, but...
My (10 year old) mare has been unlevel in her sacroilliac joint and hips since she was 2, according to previous owners and the stud where she was bred. She was a good inch and a quarter higher on the left.
My friend recommended her physio, so I booked him. He put her level in 2 minutes. She has stayed level since and I have to say, this man works wonders! Instead of paying the vet £30 to come and look, I paid him £30 and he came and fixed it! He also recommended some stretches and schooling exercises to do with her.
His name is Michael Reid and I think he has a website. Not sure whether or not to post his number on.
Like I said, a bit off topic, but definitely worth knowing!

Freya.
