Hiya,

Basically my friend who has had Jakes on part-loan for the past three years is probably getting her own horse. No great shock as she has been talking about it for a while. Sooo she will probably be stopping riding Jakes, which is a shame as they both get a long well. Jakes and I have a 'love / hate' relationship and to me he is my 'happy hacker' as this is what we both enjoy the most.

So it looks like I will be advertising for someone to part-loan him again!

Basically - what I am asking is would you pay £20.00 a week for ride a horse 3/4 times a week. You would need your own rider insurance and sign a BHS loanee contract.

Jakes is a 14.1, full reg. Welsh Cob. Black, pretty with a star. Great to catch, clip, shoe, traffic etc He does pop a jump - can jump 2'6 with ease but needs a confident rider over bigger or scarier jumps and can be silly sometimes (nothing nasty, just a tiny buck if not ridden for a while) He is quite slow to start with - you need to 'work out' how to ride him as he is 'quirky!' but perfectly safe. Not really a novice ride but with supervision is a 'happy riding school style plod!'
Jakes hacks alone and in company - this is what he does best!

We have a small indoor school and excellent off road hacking. 8 brand new show jumps and fillers. Opportunity to go to shows/ride with my other horse but not Jakes as he doesn't load.

So what I am asking is - would you pay £20 per week?

Thanks xx

Id possibly not put in the bit about can buck if not ridden, if you were to put it into an add, I see it as, your looking for someone to ride him, so hopefully he would be ridden up to that point, so if someone looking at that thought, ooh lovely, then saw that, 'while' could mean 6 months or a day, if you see what i mean?
You could always mention it if someone goes to see him? [ iknow thats not your add, just a thought >_<!]

Would this person help stable him in winter?

Would you not consider giving Jakes to her on Full loan?

Although £20 a week sounds very resonable offer.

I have. The trouble is, she wants a larger horse (she is tall) that she can take to shows etc and her daughter can ride. Jakes will not box and is a 'happy hacker'. I totally understand what she means.

 Yep, I understand exactly what you mean.

I was going to put something like this:

'For part loan. Handsome Welsh Cob gelding. Black, 14.1 hands, 8 years old. Happy hacker looking for someone to have fun with. Can jump up to 2'6. Easy to catch, groom, shoe, clip 100% traffic. Must stay at present yard near Harlech where we have small indoor school, Show Jumps and excellent hacking around the mountains. Rider must have rider insurance and sign contract. Opportunity to ride other horses. No complete novices. £20.00 per week. Call ****'

Sounds fab!

In my book, any horse that can hack around the mountains safely is a damn good horse!

Sounds an excellent deal to me!

Yep he is very foot-sure! However his attitude with the trailer (point blank refuses to go in!) and sometimes being a little silly when faced with a jump after not being jumped for a while is his only down points!

Just need to find someone who is nice, happy and won't take the pee!

I'd put the bit about no novices a bit earlier just to make it clear who you are after, and a lot of people I found when looking for Spok didn't seem to read my whole advert, and I got many timewasters!

Depending on how flexible you are wanting to be you could say for part or full loan... I think mroe would be intrested for full loan as then the horse feels like theirs- they pay for up keep etc but without the initial cost of purchase.

End of the day with full loan you have the last say, and easy to keep an eye on him if hes kept on the same yard as Taran.

I wouldn't mind a full loan, if the paid for everything, ie shoes, feed, hay, worming, livery etc I would pay for any vet bills, injections and insurance as at the end of the day he is still my horse. Just need to find someone sensible in North Wales! Any takers? xx

Sounds alright to me, also wouldn't put the bit about bucking in, tell them that when you see them.

I would definitely go for it! £20 won't get you much in riding lessons or hacking from a riding school so seems like a much better option for someone wanting to have a bit more freedom.

Yep, thats what I thought! Just hope I do not get any timewasters!

Won't be putting any adverts up until after I get back from holidays.

Thank you all xx

Sounds like a great deal to me. It's basically what I have now with Zeb. It's like having my own horse for a fraction of the cost of owning one!

Well an up-date.

Old loaner isn't going to give up on him as the horse she was buying isn't really for sale (long story) So she is keeping him for the winter and the new loanee is having Jakes every Sunday (if this Sunday goes well!) for a happy hacker. I am pleased to say the least as the old loaner is fantastic with him and brings out the best in him - Just wish Jakes was a hand heigher and she would be buying him! (She is the only person I would sell him to)

Just another up-date. Jakes is still being loaned by my friend. But my OH's secertary is riding him on Sundays and they have just got on sooo well after 3 weeks. I am very happy, and Jakes looks really happy too :D xx
