I think we have one in the form of Freebee cob!!

One day in June I went down to feed to find both horses who were out in fly rugs with them hanging round their necks. Luckily no damage to horses but fly rugs completely shredded, we think they spooked in the electrical storm the night before.

Cob comes in 2 weeks ago with a nice cut on his pastern, was still bleeding so put wound powder on it and was fine the next day.

I go up to feed tonight, to find Freebee cob with his turnout rug hanging round his neck and a 2-3inch gash on his off hind  Wasn't lame, but it was open so put lots of wound powder on and will check again tomorrow. He had to stay out without a rug on tonight as his only lw turnout has died and gone to heaven... God knows what he did to it :ashamed:

Ebony was soo careful out in the field, never wrecked rugs, never came in with even tiny cut despite escaping out of her field into woods several times, escaping out of her stable more times than I can remember and generally being a nutter. But Freebee, bless him needs to be wrapped up in cotton wool!

i had one of those...****** pain in the arse!
I was like you, went from Lisa who had the vet out once in 3 years to Echo who was the only horse in her herd to get staggers twice and took every opportunity to injure herself *rollseyes*

sounds like a nightmare! It's so annoying when the ruin rugs isn't it. Is Freebee the horses name? It's an unusual one but i used to know one from a previous yard.

Yeah Freebee is his name, he was a BOGOF horse when his previous owner's mare produced a foal one morning out of the blue, and it was Freebee :)

Horses are such funny creatures.. Spock always been quite good with rugs, doesn't really rip them (or none so bad I've had to replace it), as for cuts; only little nicks here and there and nothing major really. I think hes only given me a good scare twice in 6 years (which is plenty as they vets bills on each of those were a good few £££!!)
