View Full Version : Leather saddle and synthetic stirrup leathers?

Question in the title really - do synthetic leathers go with a leather saddle?
My leather stirrup leathers have stretched and this has happened before even though I swap them over regularly.
Was looking at some synthetic leathers in the tack shop (think they were kincaid?) would they mark a leather saddle?

In the grand scheme of thing-no.:) I think things like brown leathers and a black saddle would show more tbh.

I have never done if because I was worried they would mark the saddle. Totally unproven but didn't want to risk it, as I wouldn't know until the damage is permanent!
I think you can get some stirrups which are leather with a webbing/ strengthened inside for this reason - maybe it was robinsons i saw them?

My saddler warned me against, but I would love to hear if you try as I'm tired of the stretching too.

you can buy leather leathers that are syntehtic inside so they are leather but they dont strech, i have a pair i think mine are bates they are quite pricey but they are really nice leather on the outside, i think calf skin and hardly mark the saddle at all where as some even leather ones can make them quite badly
