Dennis came back from the crematory today not sure what to do with him?
The box is lovely its huge, I cant even lift it the bloke said its the heaviest he's ever done, lovely wooden box with his name on and a horse carved in the side
Mum thought about burrying him and planting a tree above it to mark where he is

If i had Magic cremated i'd want to keep him with me so i'd put the box somewhere in the house. Even if the box wasn't on display i'd still know he was near me.

I personally dont like burying the caskets unless you know your not going to move or anything
Id keep it in the house. Either that or have his ashes seperated and put some in a smaller casket you can keep in the house?
Not sure if you'd be into the idea, but DNA vials from ashes always look lovely

So sorry about Dennis. I would bury it in his field-or if you can't do that, in a place where you have happy memories riding him.

My mum had my dog cremated so she could have him burried with her when she goes. Do you think you could do that with your horse?

I personally wouldn't want it in my house, but I am funny about things like that. What about buying a big terracotta pot, burying them in there and planting a small tree/ rose bush etc in it? A friend of ours did this with her dad's ashes, as she didn't want to put them in the garden in case she moved house. That way it can grow something but you can still transport it if you needed to move

I scattered Abbie's ashes in her favourite spot. Just as you enter the river path. She loved that spot - as we used to go through the gate she would prick her ears up and stop and just look and listen for a minute. It's the first image of her that pops into my head every time I think of her. I like the idea of her running free along the river and everytime I do that hack I think of her and almost feel her. I kept the casket and put all of my memories of her in it. Our rosettes, one of her shoes, her stable rug, some of her tail, her headcollar, our dressage mark sheets and some photographs.

i must have missed something what happened to dennis? sorry to hear that he's departed now but like black crow suggests maybe splitting his ashes and spreading some where you knew he loved best and keeping some for yourself

he had a bad colic and his gut became twisted its wouldnt of been fair to of put him through another surgery at twenty, plus there is only so much gut you can take out and a third surgery would of probably finished him off anyway, i had him put to sleep about two weeks ago now nearly
