For copyright reasons I would like to remind members NOT to post photographs taken by professional photographers on these forums. This includes photographs you may have purchased from the photographer and regardless of whether the print is marked as copyright or not.

To clarify further ...

Copyright is automatic and exists the second the photo is taken - the photographer being the copyright owner and it is not necessary for the photographer to mark something as being copyright in order to make it copyright.

It is against the law to publish (ie post here) anything that is the copyright of someone else, unless you have permission of the copyright owner to do so.

Although professional photographers sell copies of their photographs, they retain the coyright - the copyright is not transferred to you when you buy a copy of one of their photographs.

Therefore to post photographs taken by a professional photographer (even if you purchased a copy of that photograph) on these forums would be a breach of their copyright.

The only exception to this would be if the photographer has granted you rights to reproduce and publish their work on the Equine World UK forums or has transferred copyright in their photograph to you - in either case please foward written proof of such rights from the photographer to me if you wish to post pictures taken by Event Photographers on these forums.
