What do you prefer? Heavy horses or the lighter breeds?
What is your favourite breed?
Since having a Welsh Sec D i'll be biased and say thats now my fave breed! I do prefer the finer types though if i had to choose from a TB to a Gypsy Vanner - Even though I do think there stunning
Whats your thoughts?

Inbetweenys!! I don't like HW cobs and I don't like the really light TBs. My favourite breed is an Irish Draught. A little bit heavier than a MW but I wouldn't say they were HW.

i prefer more mw - hw's. I really dont like the finer tb or wb types and given all the money in the world to buy a horse i would come back with one of the following : idxtb(but leaning on the id side, like monts is!), a shire, a clydesdale, a welsh D or a cleveland bay.
so really, anything with a good amount of bone!

Hmmmm.... I wouldn't put Welsh Cobs as real heavy weights - more MW. I like light horses such as Arabs but not a fan of TBs, I love my Welsh Cobs but not a fan of Irish Cobs... I am just difficult! xx

after owning bailey, my heavy cob for 6mnths i have to say i love him to pieces but my daughter has a l/w show cob who is hogged and is also very handsome. i love the mane and feathers on a heavy but whether i shall feel the same after hours of cleaning him for shows i may feel differently. lol. x

I like chunkys but small ones - nothing over about 15.2 for me! Once they get over that height I move directly onto IDs  love that breed - such beautiful 'people' have never met a mean one!!
Am really not a fan of the little lightweight 'poncy' types - no offence to anyone who has them and there are some I just adore on here but for me to own it would have to be a chunky monkey! xx

Ponies! But light to medium weight I think - not really a fan of chunkier cobs/ highlands etc. I'm too petite for anything like that!

I like lightweights the most. Have owned one for 13 years. Although I quite like mediumweights too. And I do like heavy chunky horses too, but if I was choosing a horse for me I'd be more inclined to look towards the light or light/medium horses.

I dunno, I wouldn't really call a welsh D a heavy horse - they're fairly light cobs really. I like their builds though, welsh Ds suit my size and riding best generally. I love heavy cobs aswell though, shauny's converted me lol lovely lad to ride. I do like lighter horses aswell, but I think cobs going properly look far more eligant and feel nicer than a lighter build.

I have one of each! :) Kinzzy is a big chunky heavyweight cob and Luna is a lighter Cleveland Bay x TB/ID. Kinzzy is fab for hacking and totally bombproof but isn't too good at schooling work and hopefully Luna will find schooling a bit easier with her build!
Well thats the plan anyway!!! :cheekywink:

heavies all the way and the more feather the better! But then i would say that owning a clydesdale and a little gypsy cob ... little as in height (he's only 13.1)!

Clydesdales, without a doubt, but I'm also partial to Shires and Irish Drafts.
Or something crossed with any of the above!

I love the traditional gypsy cob so quite a heavy weight fan, although both my horses are 1/2 tb although crossed with a good breed, Danser being out of my old gypsy cob and Charlie is 1/2 Irish Draught.

Arabs ftw :L ahaa
nooo butt id choose a arabb over a cobby type anydayyy.
its not as i dont like them as such i just prefer finer types etc.
i wouldnt mind a heavier show cob or something
but i'd rather have a lighter horse if tat makes sense lol xx

Heavy weights - although I have a standardbred, I have always been a softy for Gypsy Vanners, Cobs etc. :D
I don't have a fav breed only because their personalities can vary so widley, not all cob's are bomb proof, and not all TB's are spooky :)

I'm an in betweener. Although like all shapes and sizes I prefer my middleweight types, something to wrap your leg round without walking like John Wayne for a week but it was my justin that converted me before him I was very much a fine Thoroughbred type person x x Although I love to look at heavy cobs with all their feathers they are to die for.

Hmmm a real mixed bag then!
To be honest though I love really heavy cobs but I wouldnt rule any kind of horse out, if I ever did look for another horse im pretty sure I would go for a cob but most of my friends at the yard have bigger (height wise) horses that are fine breeds and they are all lovely and really good all rounders.
One of my friends has a really breedy type (he is a relative of Mr President) and he's still young but he's fab and really bomproof, he's the gangliest horse Ive ever but is lovely to ride!
