Heavy pelham?

Just bought a stainless steel pelham for "group" riding, when ploddy cob turns into demon!! It just seems sooo heavy compared to his snaffle, do they make lighter ones? I looked at the rubber ones but they didn't seem any lighter, advice please as i feel a bit cruel !!

I don't think the horse will notice too much, Magic didn't with his, in fact he was more willing to open his mouth for that than his snaffle.

the jointed ones are lighter but they dont work very well at all, they wont notice it at all happy mouth ones are also quite light

Thanks for answering, he does seem to go well in it, we feel like dressage divas with our double reins and quick plod....well,he hasn't been ridden much lately!!
