Online, my local tack shops never seem to have any reductions!!

I got some rugs in the sale from Robinsons and Rideaway quite cheap. I always check out Equestrian Clearance too but every time I find something I like they don't have the size I need!! They should add a function whereby you can search by size so it'll only list the ones that they've got in the size you want.

either through a tack auction or from a stall (at the horse auction) I used to have a trade stand selling horse rugs was way cheaper than most shops. You can often bargin on the price - especially if its towards the end of the day or your getting more than 1 rug.

that equestrian clearance looks pretty good! i had been looking on ebay but in all honesty i havent seen anything that i would class as a bargain. my local tack shop used to cost a blinking fortune!

Most of my bargains have been from local tack shops. I got a Weatherbeeta fleece at the weekend for £20 reduced from £29 it's the current season one too so not old stock. I got a pair of Musto Ultimate Snug jods for £33 reduced from £70, a Musto coat for £40 reduced from £85, and a Musto base layer for £15 down from £30.

Once got a Joules sweatshirt for £15 instead of £40 in a local feed merchants, bought it to sell on ebay but kept it in the end, 5 years on it's still going strong. Ummm Ariat boots £50 reduced from £90, leather chaps for £15 reduced from £40...

Last night I got a Joules gillet on ebay for £10.50 :D

So local tack shops and ebay for me, although the shows tend to have good bargains if you hunt around, got a nice fleece at Badminton last year £40 down to £15 :) I found the online tack shops don't really work out much cheaper as the postage always stings you and bumps up the price.

Internet. Definitely.

Although if I know local people, word of mouth is great, too. I lost a lot of weight so none of my show clothes fit me - I outfitted myself in entirely new clothes for little-to-nothing by bumming old stuff off my friends, instructors, etc.

Don't fall for Surrey Equestrian's cheapness! I'm still waiting for my gaiters 6 weeks after ordering!
My favourite is Equestrian Clearance..
Sadly, I don't think my local tack shop are doing very well as they never seem to have any stock - I went in for a leadrope the other day and they had 3 - only navy, I quite like choice! They are also pretty expensive which is a shame

There's a company called "snowhill" they are mailorder but only supply to trade. They do a postcode check to make sure you arnt residential before sending a catalogue out. BUT farmlot s come up as business premises and you only need to tell them your starting a farm shop. If you spend more than £400 postage is free - i knowit sounds like a lot but if the whole yard chips in its easy! They do alot of rugs (at trade price remember!) plus tack and all the bits and bobs. Deliver within 3 days. Main problem is that you cant really send stuff back and they dont always have everything in stock.

I shop around to be honest, get most of my rugs online and my new local tack shop is quite cheap. Our main one is crazy prices but massive and has lovely things.

I ordered something from them friday evening and it was here this morning. It's the 2nd time i've ordered from them and didn't have a problem either time. Got a schooling whip for £2.94 and spurs with straps for under £4, postage from that is a lot less than sites like derby house, rideaway and robinsons too and the stuff comes with city link rather than royal mail.

I tend to buy online as I personally dont think we have enough tack shops in our area. It isnt worth the bother of travelling all the way to Robinsons as its a fair drive for us and when you go they dont have things in stock and I dont particularly like the quality of a lot of Robinsons stuff.

I do tend to buy a lot of stuff when we are out at shows or at HOYS at the stalls though.

I've had a few bargins off a site called horseloverz.co.uk I got a rambo rug for my section A reduced to £25 from £135 they often have a 70% off sale, or the auctions can be really good.

I agree snowhill is really cheap but I got a turnout rug for Jazz and it lasted him 3 days I must add to that he is very playful my friend got the same rug and hers is still great

Ebay, find the item you want, decide on a price and stick to it! You can get some fab bargins, I got Mac a mediumweight combo TO barely used (looked like it had been tried on but that's all) for £17 - can't remember the make now but when I looked at the rrp online it was around £70!

I've got loads of Ebay bargains - Regent leather riding boots- practically new for £12 and a wintec saddle, new with slight damage to a bit of the leather for £70, to name a couple.

I got some jodphurs last week for £5 reduced from £33 at the local farm shop.

On line stores I like robinsons and rideaway.

hmm I must be unlucky - another member on here has had the same problem as me - if somethings out of stock they don't tell you.. I just sent them a really shirty email as they keep fobbing me off and I need the chaps for a competition, or I need to cancel them and get something elsewhere..

I can see why you don't like them, i'd be ****** off too. I'm having a similar problem with a certain website that sells all different types of wellies. I ordered them and they came really quickly but had a hole in them so sent back the lables off the wellies that i cut off and to not hear from them for ages so when i finally called they said they'd send a replacement, then i got an email saying they were out of stock and would i like to choose a different colour so i replied and then heard nothing. So emailed asking where they were only to be given a snow excuse  I still haven't heard anything from them even though i've sent a request for a full refund and what's really really annoying is that this has been going on since october! :miffed::rant:
