I used to be absolutely terrified of horses! I wouldn't go near them, couldn't walk past them (I had to run) when going to school. They scared me quite a bit.
But my fear started to fade when I told myself to give it a go and walk up by the fence and i'd do it on a daily basis. I eventually managed to walk along with no fear at all, and to just walk away if I did get scared again.
How I got into riding lessons - i'd always wanted to try riding so I knew i'd have to face the fear of getting on, which was NO problem at all, all I had was first time riding nerves which i'm sure many people get.
Helping out at the stables this week has taught me so much, and i'll keep going back. I've been locked in stables with horses while tacking them up, putting their rugs on and i'm so calm. I know that some will be naughty and awkward, and some are nice to handle. I'm learning the different personalities of them all which I think is important!
Anyway, just thought i'd share. It might come as a shock to some of you  xxx
