black crow

Was just talking to Jase about some horses i worked with, and told him about one i met when i was 12 at a therapy center in the north, and it got me thinking. First think of these questions..
Where do you stand on how far 'testing' should be taken? Do you think its ok to test things on animals to a certain degree to 'further' science?
I was being taken for a tour around, and one of the grooms said oh come and meet this boy. The name has escaped me, i just remember him being a big very dark bay gelding. She took off his rug, and explained he had been used in 'electric response' testing. I looked underneath him, and from a small hole in his stomach, protruded 3 wires, just like you would find on the inside of a plug. She didnt go into details of what they did to him, but its not exactly that hard to guess.
Due to the 'effects' of his treatment, his life was considerably shortened. He'd died at some point in the year before i went back.
[Will add if you think this is so utterly cruel like i do too, you can have the number of the place that owned him incase you want further info on him]
I had NEVER seen anything like it, and didnt think it was even humanely possible to do something like that, to a horse. Then i realised, its not humane at all.
I've never seen anything like it since, and i hope that such things dont still happen, although they most likely will do.
Where would you stand on this? Are a few horses for testing god knows what ok, as long as it funds science? Or where would you say that its 100% unneeded?
If anyone has any information on why and how this is justified [if it still happens!] please let me know!
