As you can see the warmup area for the showing classes is magnificent - basically find a bit of grass (only sloping areas available) and ride around the horse lorries, spectators, dogs, etc.
He was very tense (hence him sucking himself in and over bending) but despite that he was kind of listening after some warm up but later on he relaxed a bit. Then he did a really good spook in the ring when we were riding round (whose idea was it put the rubbish bin with flapping plastic bag inside right next to the arena?!!) which unfortunately unsettled him and made him tense again so I was really chuffed that we still managed to get 3rd place. My friend managed to get some odd clips - she kept forgetting to press the record button so didn't get all of it.

Thanks :)
Apple, he is lovely to ride, although he can be very rude and cheeky at times so does have his moments, but that's his character and I love it. He wasn't too keen on the uneven ground and kept his eye on the spooky bin (that's what he was looking at when he lifted his head up at in the trot in between our canters in our show). It is the only the 2nd time we'd actually done a ridden class (the first time being the qualifier for the championships) and he doesn't normally work on grass so isn't at all used to uneven ground as he works mostly in the school so I was well chuffed with him.

Shaz, yes that's me on him. They have a coloured class for piebald and skewbalds, then an odd coloured class for spots, duns, palominos, roans.
Rhea, he is only 14hh  .. I didn't buy him to keep but as a project to sell on and thought I was safe buying something 14hh because he would be too small for me to ever want to keep. 3 years later I'd now never sell him as he is way too good and way too much fun. It felt quite odd riding him at first especially after Apache who is a heavyweight 15.3hh but now I feel quite at home riding him. I do feel guilty though when I've put some weight on (like now) because he is only 14hh so he is a good reason to lose it again!

We do dressage - that's the main thing we do. He's very spooky (ie he will literally spook at his own shadow), so it's taken us a year of going up to Addington to get him to relax there and not spook at the dressage markers because they are different to the ones at home, the judges hut, the sides of the arena, the dressage boards, etc, etc and to get him to actually relax! When we started we regularly took up last place with scores of around 45% and all through his test the same comment was made over and over again, "tense" - now he's more relaxed and regularly getting placed with over 60%, even getting 3rd with 67.5% last month which I was well chuffed with. He's qualified for the Addington Summer Dressage Championships this saturday coming.
Unfortunately this morning he wasn't right at all and I suspected he's put his pelvis out (which he's done before) - luckily I managed to get the osteopath out to him today and he found that he's put his back, pelvis (both sides) and neck out. He thinks he got cast in his box last night to do as much damage to himself as he had as he was fine when I rode him yesterday. He manipulated him this morning so fingers crossed he'll be ok for saturday but he needs to rest tomorrow so I won't really know until saturday morning so it's touch and go whether we'll make it to the championships.
