well shes going to be 4 in march :scared:
and its about time she was started. :p
so i am off to a highly rated professionals yard on sunday to have a look about and discuss things, and possibly to book her in to be backed in april  so thats gunna be about £200 a week.... :p how to break the news to OH..?
i am a mixture of scared and excited tbh.
ive decided not to back her myself as i am too scared to ruining her, and shes got far too much potential to be messed up.
:pmsl: :o and she has got a lot of her mother in there to contend with
my trainer sends her dressage youngsters off to be backed there so i know some of the end results and very yummy they are too!
the only thing i am abit reserved about is he is a fairly tall man and although shes about 16.1h, shes very slight still..... hmm maybe i should just stop dithering and get on with it!

I cant believe she is nearly 4...doesnt seem that long ago that we were all waiting for her to arrive!!
I think she will be alright with him, hes obviously v experienced :D

I'm doing very much the same with Kita. I am going to be sending her to Balhagan Equestrian as soon as they have a place for her. I'm so excited - just hope she's not there too long or I'll be flat broke! They have a really good reputation, and she can be a bit psycho, so although I backed Zeitgeist myself, I think she would be better off going there.
It's going to be so great watching your progress and comparing notes!!! So exciting!!! :D

i know :)
i love babies they are fab.
am glad Kaya is well established now so even if i only ride her every 2/3 days she will be fine.
will get some new pics once shes back home. shes slumming it living out atm and looks like a bog horse!
£200 pw is a lot but it will be worth it if he is as good as his reputation :)
i think i may keep a photo diary of her backing :)

I cannot beleive she is 4 :shocked::shocked:
Where has the time gone!
amandaco
16th February 2010, 01:27 PM
well ive more or less decided not to send her there because-
she wouldnt get any turnout
she would probably just get a bare minimum bed that wasnt that clean judging by the beds...
she would be worked in draw reins
and alot of the horses were very nervous looking.....
so i am getting a lady who does backing and comes to your yard, to back her! that way shes safe at home with nice bed and turnout, i can keep an eye on her and be more involved and lastly it will even be cheaper....

Oh no, but by the sounds of it it sounds like a better idea - working in draw reins, no turnout and no bedding doesnt sound good!!

The arrangments at that yard sound pretty dire TBH,especially for the money they're charging.Obviously too much going in their pockets and not enough being spent on the care of their 'clients'.
I have a funny feeling Bey would have soon shown them what she thought of draw reins and such like though, and bet they would have come off worse:lol:Gotta love that filly;)
Lady coming to you sounds like a grand idea.Knowing how high a standard of care you provide for your horses, and how concerned you always are with their well being,I think having her at that yard,or anything remotely similar would have been a constant worry to you anyway.Good luck, and hope backing lady get's on well with Bey:)
