I've seen a couple of other threads on qualifications and it's got me thinking. I would quite like to obtain a theory based qualification and the BHS Horse Owner's CertIficate seems perfect EXCEPT that there is a 90 minute exam!
I don't deal well with exams, never have done. The last exam I took (5 years ago) I suffered a major anxiety attack and the examiner had to try and calm me down so I could continue!! I suffer with anxiety at times anyway, tablets help but it's still a horrible experience to have an attack.
So basically I don't want to put myself through an exam because I would end up ill with it! I'm wondering if there are any certificates or anything that just involve coursework and no actual exam?

You could do a 'distance learning' course, but it wouldnt be a professional certificate

Ditto Mandi
The TOCES courses are quite good. I did their senior horsemasters 2 course for a bit of fun while i wasnt riding.

Brill, thanks guys, I'll check them out. Doesn't need to be a pro qualification.

I did the Horse Owners' courses and the exam is not compulsory... you can just do the training for it and I think the exam is £15 or so to take (though the exams are really easy if you go to the lectures... I don't do well in exams and these were fine).

My National Certificate was purely coursework and practical and ridden assessments. Not one exam! Loved it!

You will find thenm really interesting and with your busy life they will fit in nicely x
lol, I'm actually wondering why I'm even considering it as I don't really have time but what the hell, I'll just have to spend less time on here.....or maybe more getting answers to the questions out of you!

'assessments' are likely to affect me in the same way as exams!

Thanks for the info on the Baileys Award - just sent off for it now!
I'm currently studying for a BTEC ACHM with TOCES - all assignment based with a 2 day practical study weekend at their base in Boxted:)
