Hi guys,

it seems like this one is the best, previous posts I've read seem to point to this one.

Quick question for you. They look as though they have standard sizes that you can buy but some of you have said that they are custom fit? So does that mean if I get one off the internet I won't have had it fitted properly?

Did you guys go to a proper tack shop to get yours fitted and pay top whack? They do seem to be cheaper on the internet but no point in buying off there if it's not going to fit right! :o

Thanks

Cat

I got mine from a Racesafe stall at a show, they sat me astride a wooden horse to make sure I could fold properly and that it did not catch the cantle at the back.

Personally I'd not buy one off the net. If I needed a new one I'd still go back to the stall or shop with fitters as designs of body protectors can change and as you say it's important they fit correctly.

Also to add, it can appear cheaper to buy off the net, however once you've paid Postage and packaging it can add up. I think as I got mine direct from a Racesafe stall it was cheaper than from a tackshop.

I got mine from a tackshop, had it properly fitted! Wasn't anymore expensive then on rideaway or any of the other sites I found.

You should get one properly fitted - although there is nothing to stop you going into a tack shop, having one fitted to find out what size you need and leaving the shop without buying it - and then ordering the size you need off the internet if it works out cheaper.

Lol now that two of you have suggested the sneaky option I don't feel so bad considering it!

Having said that I'm all for supporting my local tack shop, they're very helpful so I wouldn't mind paying a bit extra to get it from them. How boring am I! :innocent:

Dee Dee who used be on here had one sent-off to Racesafe for alteration to a custom fit and they did it free of charge and really well. I've got a standard fit one, but it's a bit too long at the back and does catch if I'm going down a steep hill and have to lean back. It's really comfortable though, and definitely the best if you've got boobs!

I got mine from Treehouse online. I can't praise them highly enough. The site has a really excellent guide for measuring yourself, which is very thorough and simple to follow. However, I thought I'd be clever and get mine 'long' because I broke my pelvis once before, and I'm tall. I also thought I'd best get 'small' shoulder pads cos I'm scrawny. Placed my order and the very next morning got a phone call from them. She asked me questions about my size, and said she would recommend I get the normal back and medium shoulder pads, so reluctantly I agreed, because she assured me I could return it if it didn't fit. She was very helpful and polite. It arrived within two days, and fits like a glove. I haven't actually ridden in it cos I don't have a horse to ride, but I have proudly worn it round the house :ashamed: and it really fits beautifully and is so comfortable. Love it, and can't wait to get riding in it!

Thanks for that ZM. Glad to hear it helps protect you at home too :)

It does stop you getting pregnant, doesn't it?

QR

I bought mine online from a site that had a chart to show you how to measure yourself and what size BP you'd need.

As far as I can tell mine fits me fine!
