View Full Version : How much would you pay?

We have just bought a 7 year old 14,2 Irish x chesnut mare and think we may have got a bargain! It would be interesting to know what you guys think she is worth!
She competed with her last owner mainly in 3ft show jumping classes but won chase me charlie by jumping 4ft 8. She has been x country and flown round 2ft 9 courses. She hadn't done much hacking with last owner but we have taken her out and had a bus and tractor come past and she hasn't batted an eye. She prefers to hack in company but will under initial protest go out alone and will definately be fine with practise.
She can be a impatient when standing still and tacking up but is getting better. She is fine to clip and shoe and passed her vetting with flying colours! She isn't a novice ride but when out hacking is happy to stay behind when galloping (unlike Rhia who has to go in front otherwise bucks and leaps). She was ridden in a pelham but we are going to change her to a snaffle as although she looks strong, she has very soft mouth!
Thanks for oppinions!

I would say max 2k if she were in the north west. Prices are low at the moment.

Definately 3k to be honest! If she had some BSJA experience behind her a bit more...

What good jumping pony is a straight forward and easy ride?
you could get a decent price for her if she is a really good jumping pony but she could do with some BSJA results to really get a good price

Thanks for replies! We paid 2200 for her which I think was quite cheap considering the jump on her! I was looking at spending 3k or more. She now as a home for life as Nat loves her to pieces!

Nat's instructor saw her today for the first time! I asked her to guess the price and she said that she would have paid 3500 - 4000 for her and reckons that Nat will go far with her!
What she is worth is not important as will never sell her anyway! Just nice to know that we got a bargain and saved a few quid!
Will post a video of her soon!
