she is so lovely!! shes getting on really well, shes an angel to catch now, and when i got her i could pick up her back feet, she just kept snatching them away, but today i got to pick them up and pick them out. i think something has happened around her back end as she gets funny with anything around her back legs.

ive rugged her up at night now in a lightweight rug to keep her a little warmer at night and i think she looks loads better for it already. the riding is good, she walks in an open field with the reins at the buckle and today we went past the bus twice and a massive tractor with a scary trailer on the back and she was so good! just trying to get muscle on her now and get her fit for the hunting season. ive had a lot of interest in people wanting to buy her already so i might try selling her a bit earlier than i planned as shes coming on so quick.

wish us luck as we have the farrier out monday to shoe her fronts and *try* and trim her back feet so fingers crossed!

sorry not many exciting pics!

oh definatley!! shes the most honest horse!! shes just needs re-schooling thats all, needs to learn to use herself properly and the main thing is the back feet, and getting her to be caught properly which i think is pretty much solved already. shes had such a bad life, im gonna try to get her into a permanent home where she can live out her days being loved and cared for by one person :)

rhea we are doing quite a bit of road work at the moment and her feet arent the best so im gonna see what the farrier says on monday but im not putting rears on, just want her to gain enough trust in the farrier for him to do trim her back ones.

i bought her to school, put weight on, and sort out her minor issues and get her into a permanent home.

As lovely as she is, she's too light for me and I wanted something that was going to teach me the ropes with jumping etc!

She seems like the kind of mare that will try her heart out for you no matter what you ask of her anyway! :o

well im not sure about jumping, but shes certainly very willing on the ground and out hacking!!

she was scared of my sisters moped today, but she was brave enough that when i asked her to go closer to it, she was like "um, ok" edged a bit further and further, then we stood there till she relaxed, and then tootled off, and it was nice that she trusted me enough to go near it, cos it could well have been a horse eating machine!

I thought she was only young! Do you know any of her history? Has she just been a happy hacker all her life? (Would explain why she's so good in traffic, she's probably seen it all!)

i know that the people who had her before me only had her 6 weeks and had to sell due to loss of fields, which she showed me all the paperwork for and stuff, very sad stuff. but they bought her from a dealer, and prior to that i have no idea. im guessing she was a trotter, as shes the fastest horse in trot ever!! lol trying to get her to canter is a mission and a half and i havent acheived it yet, but want to get her fitter first.

her passport is in dutch, so who knows!

Do you still have the Haflinger you recently bought? Just wondered how you were getting on with her?

no, he has gone to a friend who had a lot more experience and facilities in dealing with horses with such big issues as his. i was after a ridden project to re-school, after doing all the ponies that i had, i wanted to get back into riding, and he had so many issues that he needed taking right back to the beginning and doing properly with someone who had the time to do him a few times a day and one to one, it was my own fault for buying him in the sales when i never saw him ridden, but thankfully he is in the best place for him now.
