Having a tizz about getting ready for the show on sunday! This will be my 2nd ever in hand show but jazz's 1st show ever...and i had to fall in love with a coloured horse!!
Now to get his tail as white as i want, which is blinding white i will be using daz or something similiar i wont be happy unless his tail is so white you need sun glasses to look at him..lol...and using washing up liquid on his body as it lifts stains easily.

Anyway i need anyone who has greys or coloured's tips for stains...
I will be bathing him the day before the show...and he will be turned out with his lw rug on to reduce the amount of grass stains...but there are bound to be a couple dotted around how do you get these off without having to do another full bath?

Oooo also jazz has terrible toilet manners somehow cant go toilet without getting it down his legs :ashamed: so when hes in the trailer going to the show he will have the most disgusting legs ever how on earth do i prepare to clean off when get to the show ground...having very limited resourses on me??

Why o why did i have to have such a mucky coloured?!

Try having a pure grey who does all the above! lol
Id make up a solution of fairy liquid/water and put into a big bottle, when you get to the show just sponge down his legs with the solution to get rid of poo marks.
Take baby wipes, very handy!
Take your grooming kit, I try keep it light though, hoof oil, dandy brush, mail and tail comb, bottle of mane and tail spray.
Plait up his tail the night before so when he poo's his tail doesnt get messy.
Cant remeber the length of Jazz's mane but if you are leaving it down to show him, id plait him up the night before so it is kinked.
Remeber to do as much as you can the night before...feed buckets, water, haynets, iron you outfit and lay it out, clean shoes etc.....oh im excited just thinking about it.
Good luck and have fun!!!!!!!!

Thanks guys...
I'm in work so cant post pics of jazz...will do so this evening..promise lol
His mane is long so will plait that up as well the night before!
His tail is really really thick so will be plaited as well cos each time he poos he gets it all over the tail dirty little ***
Thanks for the tip of diluted liquid in a bottle ready actually didnt think of that! And so simple!
I normally have a huge supply of wet wipes on the yard but have run out so will top up with them 2mrw.
Will probs go to the local tack shop and see what coat shine stuff they have but i prefer home remedies they are cheaper and in most cases better!!
I have my to do list all written as i will have everything ready the night before that way i wont have any last minute panic attacks on the morning of the show i hate being in a flap!
I'm not so worried about myself but i want jazz to be turned out in absolute pristine condition but the stains OMG white bits how much hard work!!!
Dont envy you Vels mum give me your stunning black horse anyday lol lol

I only ever use Tescos own make blue shampoo on Chance who is completely white. It is the only thing over the years that I find that gets her dazzling white, none of the horse shampoos work for her in my opinion.

I also swear by Cowboy Magic to use at a show. I have had to use this on Chance after a working hunter course involving water and she was covered in mud as you can imagine and I then had to get her clean for showing classes in the afternoon at the show. My trusty Cowboy Magic did the trick. which you dont use water with.

Fortunately for me Chance's tail never goes yellow and she hasnt been shown in three years and is hardly ever washed now. I cant remember the last time I washed her tail and it is still snow white.

I love using HH Ocean Blue on Spuds back and neck, then Canter coat whitener on his legs. If i do it the other way around it seems not to work as well - he gets great comments from the judge about how clean he is :D

I'll use something like a whitener/stain remover and then a normal horse shampoo for the mane and tail, although i do use the Ocean Blue on his tail too

Scottie was an off grey colour when he arrived, when i bathed him for the first show, i used the above shampoos - never seen him that colour!

I have a pure white grey that I have been showing this year. I used Quiksilver shampoo on Uva and swear by it- its fantastic stuff!! The few shows Ive taken her too have commented on how gleaming white she is- she really sparkles!

I will however try the one Chance Encounter recommends next as Ive run out of quiksilver, and its about £10 a bottle!!

I then spray all over (avoiding the saddle pad) with cowboy magic coat shine, as to an extent it repels the dirt!!

With regards to spots if they do appear- I use cowboy magic green spot remover- and I love that too! You spray it on, rub it in, and wipe it off with a damp cloth- even the worst pooey stains have come off with this!

Can I ask- how do you wash his tail with Daz? Ive always used the Quiksilver, and done about 3 washes, but its expensive, and can imagine Daz will be far quicker and cheaper- even as a one was with Daz and then a wash with the shampoo after??

Sorry for my ignorance :o cowboy magic i'm guessing is horsey therefore should be in one of the horsey shops?

Do you know if you could use say something like vanish stain remover?? I cant see why you couldnt use these products as long as its not on open cracked skin etc but just checking 1st?

To use daz washing powder or something similiar i would get bucket of water and have the powder in already as if handwashing...i will then dunk the base of the tail only into the bucket to soak best i can while scrubbing the top if i can at the same time...i'm hoping that will work a treat! Havent tried it before it was a tip given to me so i'm interested in finding out!

Quilksilver shampoo! Very lucky ponio lol

i work on a yard of coloured horses, its great fun,
bath in anything blue or purple tinged, washing up liquid si good but does strip the grease from their coat a little too much, i tend to only use it on tails

dung away is great for any little white stains, we bandage and hood to try and keep them white and use show white paste to paint their legs with and they look fab

quicksilver is the best white shampoo out there, you can buy it off horse and harmony and i used this on myappy and she was blinding white whe she went out and i only needed to use that, it took about 30 mins to get her white but you have to be careful not to leave in it too long they horse will end up purple

Yes Cowboy Magic is the name of some horse products. I have used the Green Spot Remover this is the one that you dont need water and can wash a horse down with it and a cloth. They say it is a shower in a bottle and can be used on humans too.

I also like their super bodyshine too.

I love all their products they have a lovely smell to it. Havent bought the Green Spot for a while as we dont show Chance anymore but buy the shine for Darli all the time. Will have to start buying the Spot Remover again though with Diggi as he has four white stockings. I think they are excellent value as they are such big bottles and lasts for ages!!

Good luck for your show on Sunday, take care, hope you feel better soon.
