You do look more relaxed as the lesson went on LOL! He's looking good. What sort of saddle do you have now?

I have a working hunter saddle on Echo as he's got massive shoulders so anything more forward cut causes an issue!

I'm the same as you - learning to RIDE Echo now rather than be a passenger waiting for him to do stuff (ie muck around). The more I ride him the more confident I get...and like you said, when you're confident and positive they do listen to you!

Looking good - nice new saddle too you look just right on Razzle, a good partnership.

Agreed with GH - a good instructor can make all the difference. I too had a "lightbulb moment" with Georgie yesterday when I suddenly felt like I was actually riding her, rather than being a bit of a passenger to whatever whim was taking her. Yesterday was a *click* moment - I think it just happens at some point with every partnership, takes different lengths of time etc. I finally felt a bit like I was actually entitled to own this horse
