Default Why do people have to be so snobby?

I was working Baron in the sand school this evening and I was trying to get a nice collected canter out of him but he wasn't having any of it as there were jumps and jumps = jumping not dressage which he detests.

Anyway a lady came into the school with her daughter and a lovely grey pony so they were working it round the school and I stopped what I was doing to do something else as I was going to get into a fight with Baron and said to the lady what a lovely pony he was... her reply?

"Well he should be for £6,000; at least he does better than your thing. What did you pay for that? Evidently not £6,000 or he'd do what you want" I was so cross I couldn't stay in the school. Surely riding isn't about how much your horse cost or the amount of rosettes but working to build a better relationship with him / her?

Ok, rant over but I was so mad I had to let it out!!

My boy loves jumping but we are building up his fitness so don't want to push him.

Ride straight at her and then go 'oops I can't stop my sub-standard horse!'

Someone once told me Mac 'wasn't up to much' and that she 'hoped I rode her horses to a higher standard than my own' (at this point I was excersing hers as a favour to keep them ticking over while she was on crutches). At the time you feel like punching their lights out but then you realise how pathetic their lives must be if they have to make themselves feel good by making others feel bad.

Its what alot are like i'm afraid.
I am proud to say that i've never spent more than £500 on a horse. Plus i've sold them for a dam sight more! Not because i was ripping people off but because i worked hard at making them worth more.

Be proud of what you achieve, not of what you spent.
