horsemads mum is an unknown quantity at this point
Default In-Hand Showing.

Hi This is Sue...Horsemads Mum daughter..I've logged on as my mum as i don't have my own account.

I would like to get out this summer with My Mare Nancy, and do some In-hand showing with her. as My riding instructor and the lady I'll be going with have both said Nancy has a Good build and should get Placed...So I thought about giving it ago..First time for everything right..=]

So I would like to know about In-hand showing.
What do I do?
What do I wear ?
What tack should I put on Nancy?
Do you need a crop?

My Friend said I have to show in a Snaffle...Can it be any snaffle or does it have to be a certain type ??

I hope this doesn't sound Silly =]

Thanks
Sue x

Nancy is a coloured isnt she?
From what i can remember about her she should be turned out as a hunter so plaited and have a plain brown bridle with a plain browband, a snaffle of any sort is fine, i would use the bit you ride her in.
You should wear a tweed jacket and either trousers with short boots or jods with long boots/short boots & gaiters. You should carry a cane, it makes the overall picture look more neat!
As for what to do you all walk round as a group, then get stopped in one corner and individually trot round to the back, then you will be called into a line up, when it is your turn you will be called forward and asked to stand her up for the judge, make sure she stands square. The you will be asked to walk away, turn and trot back...trot straight at the judge, they will move!! You will trot past the judge and around to the line up, make sure you come back to walk before you get back to your place and walk back into line. When you have come back to walk nod to the judge to say thank you.
Then once everyone has done their trot up you will all walk round again and be called into the line up. The steward will point to you when they want you to come in so make sure you are watching them! Nod at them to acknowledge them and walk into the line up!
And most importantly, have fun!!!
xx
