OK I'm 1, bored, 2, nosey and 3, daydreaming of being at stables everyday again
So what's your daily routine with your horses? Do you ride every day? How often do you go to shows?
Please feel free to waffle
Up at 6am poo pick - quick check over and straighten sweetitch rug -fly spray - change water - spoon of Marmite and off to work
5p.m - get in from work - change into horsey stuff - poo pick field - change water - quick goom - pick feet - tack up and out for a ride (between 1-2hrs).
Back from ride - full groom and wash down if needed - check her over for any sore bits/sweetitch - give mineral and joint supplement - fly spray - sweetitch rug back on - face mask on and off back into her field after a cuddle and fuss - stand and watch her for a while - then in - tea, tele, forum and bed !!
Thank God I keep her at home !!!!
Horses make the closest of friends, they ask no questions and pass no criticisms.
Everything a bitt scewwiff at the moment but onces its back to normal it will be:
Riding early morning, check water, do feed, groom, home then back again to feed at 1pm, let the fatties out for 2 hours, home hack at 3 to put them away, give hay, check water, come home and go to work, after work, home again, dinner then back to the field to ride.
My Crazy Clan....Sisco, Monty, Wizz, Magic, Merlin, Jester, Marley.
Mine don't really have a routine which is pretty useful as they don't anticipate feed etc. they get done to fit in with whatever everyones doing. When I'm home usually I go up about 8:30/9 and check, fly spray etc. then in the evening they get ridden/played with/fed/checked from anywhere between 5ish to 8ish just depends really. When mum does them they get checked on her way to work or by the owners of the field when they take the dog out then get checked more thoroughly and fed in the evening, again can be anytime from 5ish onwards. When I'm home I ride most days, when I'm at uni they're field ornaments!
General routine is as follows - I work 8.30 until 4.30 every day (apart from weekends obviosuly!):
At the yard for about 6.15am, get Bertie out of field and bring him down to his fattie paddock. Give him a little feed, pick out his feet, fly spray, sun cream nose and put aloe vera gel on his fly bites (he has a lot at the moment!!). Put his fly mask on, hang haynet in paddock and do his water.
Get back to the yard in the evening around 5.30pm. Get him out of paddock, ride, fly spray again and turn him out in the field for the night. Poo pick paddock and if I have time get net and water ready for the morning. Usually leave yard between 7.30 - 8.00pm.
When I had Megan I had 3 different routines - school, weekend, school holidays
School - Got down to the yard for 6:00am. Feed her, gave her her haynet and poo-picked whilst she ate that. Changed her rug or just took it off and re-did it. Did the water, checked the electrics and then went home to get ready for school.
Then got down the yard at around 5:30pm. Got her in, groomed, rode her then sorted her out for the night. Fed her and gave her her haynet and went and collected the water. Make up feed and haynets for the next day, check electrics and if I have some spare time (parents preferred me home by 8 as I was by myself in a seculded field) poo picked to save time in the morning or took her for a walk for some more grass.
Weekend - Get down for about 7:30am, feed, hay, poo pick, do water then I went to work. (Worked 9:00am - 12:00pm). Then got home had lunch then went down at about half one, groomed, rode, spent some time with her, took her for grass, collected water. Was normally done by about 4:30pm. Left her til about 6:00pm and then went down fed her, hayed her, checked water, electrics, made next days feeds/haynets and then left.
Holidays - I went down at about 8:00am, fed, hayed, checked water, poo picked, collected water, groomed, rode, bonded, took for grass, checked electrics. Normally finished by about 1:00pm and then went back down at about 6:00pm to feed, hay, check water, collect water if needed, check electrics, make feeds/hayneys and then went home.
