WeeB knows what a horse looks like
Default B's summer (trec) adventures

I've not been online for a while as been organising a yard camp which we had this weekend (photos will follow on a seperate thread as there are hundreds of them!! ) So thought i'd do a little catch up thread of what we've been up to...

We've been doing loads of trec training, on the yard with the 2009 level two scottish champ and away at crieff with a trec competitor.

on the yard...

the group we rode in (we're far left)

low hanging branches

away at crieff

Getting a briefing

riding down to the water crossing

low hanging branches

rein back

and then we went to SNEC for our first ever competition!! Short format (control of paces and PTV which is the obsticals)

s-bend

low hanging branches

bending

led corridor

led s-bend

maypole

ridden up hill

bridge

water

and the gallop for home!

it was one of the best moments I've had with B. So much fun, so relaxed and so friendly! I thouragly recomend everyone to have a go at trec!

We did two classes, the into class (which had no contol of paces) in which he refused to go over the bridge so i had to lead him over and got no points for it, and then he had a little scuffle at the water but went over.

second class was the novice class and he did everything first time no problems and was like a rocket on the home stretch!! (our trec team isnt called the pocket rockets for nothing!! lol!)

Amazingly we came 2nd in both our classes!! I was so proud of my wee man, just shows the veteran's have bags to give!!

Got another comp at the end of this month then a full trec at the begining of sept which is a two day affair with orienteering (POR) on the first day and control of paces (COP) and PTV on the second day. Cant wait for that!

thanks easy rider, he's looking his best ever this year!
We are hoping to do the indoor kelly marks winter series this year as they do some at SNEC which is only about 30mins in the lorry. I think the full trec in sept will be our first and only full one this season.
B definatly seems to love it, i think its just something different and that keeps his attention!

Tiaki - look on the BHS website, they have a list of trec events, there might be some near to you. And there is the kelly marks winter series which is just the COP and PTV. There is also a trec website, PM me if you want the link

thanks lilholley, it's something we both enjoy (unlike jumping which he loves, and i love after its over!! lol!)

i know!!! He's such a speed freak!! The route went up that hill then along a flat path, through a gate and over a grass field through the finish post, i was flat on his neck going though the finish and it took us the width of the field to pull up!!

That looks like so much fun! B looks to be in his element. What a cutie he is.

Can I ask - the low branches - are they the same height for everyone? Thinking that ponies have the advantage there!
