Default Icarus - Eventers Challenge 10.10.10

So, after wednesday's rather stressful attempt at practising SJ we trundled off to do the mini novice class at an eventers challenge with a fresh mind and as a fresh start.

Went over the warm up fences a few times. Icarus did a slow wobble into the cross pole first time but i managed to push him over and give him a big pat and lots of praise. After that he sort of transformed! I felt his spirits rise and there was no stopping him! He really took me into the warm up XC jump, so i took him over the SJ a few more times then left it at that.

Went in the ring and cantered around, making sure to let him get a good look at the scary ones and into the dark corners. Took him around to to the first jump and he really took me into it, took an awkward turn into the next jump and then popped that too (have decided that some of his refusals could be due to him falling out in the corners - first thing to work on with new instructor!), wobbled down to the third jump, but also popped that too. Then i think i got a bit carried away and *may* have forgotten to ride him into the 4th because he did this....

He's going for it!

But is he?!

Nope!

But I am still going...

Past the point of no return!

So i'll just sit here and take a break...

The let me get back on and carry on. So i did! This is what that jump should have looked like:
First part

And leap for the second

Carried on, with a rather *ahem* large jumping style. I dont mind him overjumping though, at least he isnt stopping!

Had a couple of stops at a few fences, but he was quite good considering i'd just flung myself on the floor - thats bound to shake him up a bit. Managed to go from SJ to XC without the mental breakdown he had at the last one we did, so it's all good!

Here's a few more pics

Video - including fall!

Lovely photos, hope you haven't tweaked anything after your fall. You both did well continuing, well done.

Well done, I am impressed that you carried on and then did so well.

....have Icarus and Saffy been comparing notes??

That was a dirty little stop Icarus! No more of those please. Big well done for getting him round the course with minimal panic attacks. He looks really enthusiastic when he's getting into the swing of it
