Totilas sold to Paul Schockemohle

Turns out the rumours were right!! Just seen on the Horse & Country TV website:

"Totilas the wonder dressage stallion has been sold to Paul Schockemole. Rumours had been circulating since the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, but it is now official."

It doesn't say definitely whether Edward Gal has lost the ride or not? Seems crazy to split them up.

Hind suspensory rumour:

was that Totilas has had numerous treatments by many many vets over the summer months. Thats why there was a no show at Hickstead. Also he was going to be pulled out of WEG and operated on. However, they decided on other treatments to get him to WEG as he won't last til the Olympics..........apparently.

Makes sense if he doesn't compete again! Would also explain the 10million price tag which seems low to me for a horse with his reputation?

how do you vaule a horse that has broken world records and has sorced the highest precentage ever?

doesnt matter even if he is lame he could retire never be ridden again after the reupatation and results he has gotten

i feel kind of bad for Edward Gal didnt realise he rode Lingh but to loose your two top horses and olypic chances it mus tbe hard for him

From the other reports i have read it *sounds* as if he will be retired to stud and with the suspensory rumours it all seems to fit.
Shame Gal has lost the ride as he genuinely seemed to adore the horse but if he was going to lose the ride due to injury anyway i suppose it didnt matter whether he was sold or not...

What i am saying is that 10 million seems low for him especially when you consider he made nearly 2 million Euro in stud fees alone last year. If he is retired to stud the earning potential is massive. Certainly feel for Edward Gal in losing the ride but wonder if the injury rumour is true as owners have always gone on record saying they would not sell and have apparently turned down much higher offers previously.

Woooooow! I can't imagine any horse selling for that much even him! How do you make that money back? Is the prize money for winning really that substantial ?

And I hope he doesn't get split from Edward... what a pair!
