mad horse 3 knows what a horse looks like
Default Your opinions please!

Firstly I have made no decisions whatsoever yet this is just a thought in progress.

I am considering selling Red.

I feel like such a let-down to him, because my own horse was all I have ever wanted.
But I'm really not enjoying it anymore. I've had a few months of *****, over and over and over iin various other parts of my life. During that I didn't ride Red and I didnt miss it. Since then he's come in at night so I haven't had time to ride in the week every day, but I could easily do on a few days but I just haven't been interested or bothered to do it.
I have no motiviation to do things with him and I'm really not enjoying it.
He's becoming an expensive pet as I'm paying for the yard to T/O on weekdays because I dont have time before work, but then both days this weekend I didn't T/O, one my friend did, theo ther I paid the yard as I am just completley un interested.

I feel so harsh on him as it's nothing that he has done, his behaviour has come on leaps and bounds.

I dont want to see him go through the mill again and have approached 2 of his ex-owners (the nice ones!) who sold him through no fault of his own.

If they can't or don't want him, I dont know what I'd do as I'm scared of him going through the mill.

But I just wondered what you think I'd get for him.

He's 6 and a half, 14.2, chestnut WB x Cob.
Has done a bit of everything but nothing really proven. Has done local shows/hunting/hacking/schooling/jumping. The show I took him to he came 1st in his class and got into the championship which I was really proud of. He has had loading issues in the past but just walks on now I think that was a bit of unsettled-ness as he has been passed around quite a bit. No health issues, good to clip/shoe etc etc. Only has front shoes and could easily have those taken off too.

I'm thinking around £1500-£2000, sounds like a nice type, does he have any papers relating to the WB half? I'm guessing not but might be a selling point? Also where in the country are you? Prices vary depending on your location.

wrong time of year to get a high price i think.

If you want to sell him now then you need to focus on his hunting potential.

Otherwise you need to work on his showing and PC potential. Get some good schooling shots out of a grackle and working relaxed, show him over some jumps and advertise him focusing on a competition prospect. Then you can maybe get a bit more for him.

I would say between £2000-£2500 only because your trying to sell him at the wrong time of the year

Around 2k/2500k.

I think your doing the right thing, the moment you lose intrest like that is the moment you need to stop and think about thats better for him.

I just don't know if its just a phase cause everything has gone wrong recently. Don't know if its just struggling while it's winter and its tough cause its non stop.
Not sure.
Sometimes I think just do it it's better for him then I think but what if it is just a phase and I regret it?
