Unhappy level behind?

libby has gone to my instructors for some schooling as I wanted to improve her canter. she has been there since monday and RI has lunged her for a couple of days, said she seemed stiff on left rein. shes just rang and said she doesn't think she is level behind?

she is having a day off tom then she is going to show me her on the lunge, she thinks that she might just be really stiff and need lots of stretches etc and she will improve over time. has anyone had the same problem? I am quite worried now

thank you so much!

Hi bex,

She is 6 but for one reason or another hasnt really got going properly. I have trouble getting her to canter so I have mainly used her as a happy hack so She hasnt had much schooling so I think that working on the lunge could be quite tough as she is using different muscles?

It could be a number of things... one of the first things I'd check is back and saddle fit and go from there.

You are right though, lunging and schooling when unfitis REALLY hard work so that could be a contributing factor..

how big / what breed is she? any sign of sweing on any joints? particularly hocks and stifles?

I couldn't get my 5yr old to canter turns out it was his saddle stopping him.

I would have her back and saddle check before doing anymore work with her.
