Unhappy Muzzle rubbing

Abbey HAS to wear a muzzle during the day at the moment but my poor princess flump is getting rather rubbed. Now I have padded it all out so it's more comfortable but it still seems to be rubbing. It's rubbing down the sides of her face, not the nose area.

Any ideas on what else I can do. Going to leave it off today but she really can't go any longer than 24hours without it else she will have another lammi attack

Help!!

Can you get some sheepskin type material and sew it onto the bits that are rubbing? That's what I've done with Saf's headcollar (she has to wear it to keep the sun shield on) and it seems to be working.

Ive heard of ppl sticking the padding to the face rather than the muzzle, I believe you can get wooly padding with an adhesive and put it round the areas on the horses where its been rubbing, sounds weird but seems to work!

Alfies has rubbed him a little bit, also down sides of face. Hasnt broken skin, just rubbed a bit of hair. What I have done is exactly as I did to prevent/reduce rubbing with Gandalfs flymask - a smudge of vasaline. Reduces the hair breakage and eliminates any skin breaking. You only need a very small amount tho, and dont put it on any pink skin.

It is all padded with two old noseband sleeves.

Will try the vaseline, thanks Gix
