Mollichaff vs Alfalfa & Hi-Fi

I currently feed my horse Mollichaff but I have seen other feeds such as Alfalfa and Hi-Fi and was wondering would these be better for my horse?

I think molliechaff is full of molasses? I might be wrong but I think thats why I stopped using it.

HI-FI I found my horses went of it quick, its quite bland really.

If your horse is fine on what you currently feed then why change it?

To be honest I'd stick to what your horse likes. My mare does alfa A oil, but my other use hifi and mollichop depending on the pony.

I would work your diet arround the forage they prefer, add a lick of some kind to supplement them with the bits they are missing xx

I find all those brands have molasses in them you can smell the sweetness in them even the so called 'healthy' brands
I use top spec top chop lite bit of a mouthful it is bland food no molasses added its basicaly chopped hay/straw and nuts nothing else....and i barely feed my horse hes out on grass 24/7 so doesnt need feeding
If your horses are happy eating what they currently have and your happy with your horses on their food then stay what your on if there is no need to change

I use Top Spec Top Chop Lite too for the same reason that it is molasses free. Both mine are barefoot & the barefoot 'experts' recommend that you keep them as sugar free as possible..... which grass is full of of course but they seem to be doing much better since changing over from Hifi Lite. I add grated carrot, high fibre nuts and garlic to their top chop lite and they seem to like it.

Agree with those who avoid molassesed feed. It is junk food and not good for horse's digestive systems. What effects their digestive systems badly can also effect their metabolism, insulin sensitivity & hooves. That is my reason for why I'd change what you're feeding.
