Fergus update

Well its 12 weeks on since Fergus had his stifle arthroscopy so thought I would give you a quick up date..

He had 6 weeks of box rest where after the first 2 weeks could be walked for 10 mins 3 times a day, he was so good for a horse that stresses and box walks I was worried but we addapted the shelter into a stable so he could see his friends and he was fine, and no problems going for walks either really pleased with him

Then he went on to 6 week small paddock rest so was in a 15m x15m paddock with the shelter so he could still go in if he wanted, he was ok in the paddock but fence walks so bad there is a track going round the outside of it now.

So last thurs was his first check up so took him down to horsepital and we got the go ahead to start bringing him back into work im a bit
he has to have 6 weeks of half hour a day walking im doing in hand and long reining before finding someone to get on for me.

Last night the physio came back out and he had a deep massage through his back which he loved and....no back pain
so next step saddle fitter to see if his saddle still fits then all set to go

he has to stay in a small paddock for 12 weeks then go back for his final check up to see if its all worked
this is how he is looking now..

Rhea I did think of that but while he was in such a small paddock I couldn't do but now ive given him a bit more room I might put Smudge in with him see how they get on.

Aww bless him, a friend of mine has just had to go through a strict routine like that all this year for her horse who had an injury. Really felt for her as she was taking pictures at events she would normally have had a go at doing with her boy.

Fingers crossed for a speedy and great recovery!!
