Default Selling horsey stuff on ebay

IM selling a few things I dont need anymore/Magic has outgrown and not had very much luck.
I listed my Full neck heavyweight 3 times, first its was buy it now at £50 and postage was approx £20 but I use courier and it would arrive pretty quick. No takers. 2nd time I put it on an auction start price I think was £40 collection only, 1 watcher no bidders. 3rd time lucky I suppose, so I put it on at a start price of £10 and Postage is £25, someone bid on it and then mesaged me saying they had JUST noticed p+p was £25 was this correct, I sent back saying yes, it takes into account the actual packaging, the couriers cost and probably a bit of my time if I have to wait in for it to be picked up. Even with P+P at £25 the total for a decent rug was only £35 but she withdrew her bid??!! each to their own, its got a bid on it now anyway shockingly
Oh I also had a message asking if someone could collect?! Again, when I put it up as collection only no one was interested. I cant afford to give it away as what I get for it has to go towards buying Magic a new bigger one. wouldnt do well if it sold for £10 would it!
Anyone else have fun on ebay?

My dad is selling a racing bike at the moment, Pick up only. Some guy from Norway asked if we could ship it there... umm no. Then he replied that he could possibly come and pick it up... from Norway??!!!! Bit far to go for something like a bike. Possibly a scammer, but with ebay nothing ever surprises me.

Oh and we put up a Thoroughgood Saddle and had no takers, ended up going to a tack shop.

I have never sold anything on ebay yet so not experienced this. People just don't take their time and read it through properly, do they?

What sort of rug is it? Is it brand new?

Most people who shop on ebay want a real bargain, obviously I dont know exactly what your selling but it may be too expensive for people x

You never know, my OH sold his Rally car on ebay and it turned out the bloke was from POland We were a bit dubious as it had to be collected as it was a non runner, so not sure if he was going to turn up but had fab comunication and he drove (with a friend) all the way from Poland Turned out the car would have been another £10K more than he paid for it if he bought it in Poland, it was cheaper for him to buy here and collect

Amanda, No its not brand new but hardly worn, never been rained on or rolled in! I am looking for a heavyweight but in 6'6" and theres nothing for under £60 and there certainly isnt anything 2nd hand. Last year there were stupid amounts of cheap rugs but after all the snow prices have gone nuts. I paid ALOT more than £35 for this ruig im selling and I know I wont get back what I paid for it, I never expected to. And as you say, it probably is too expensive for some people, Id quite happily pay £35 for a rug new or 2nd had, especially in the condition this one is in!

Ebay is the something for nothing brigade! Fine if you're buying, not so much if you're selling...

I don't sell very often but recently sold the towball off the van and got more for it than the buy it now price... What's that about? I also advertised the roofrack, which was collection only, and had no bidders. We've decide to cut it up and turn it into something else, rather than *** around advertising it.

Weirdest one I ever had was when looking for a trailer recently - I wasn't trying to pay under the odds for things, I knew what other models were going for, so I knew what was about right - saw a great one listed - in fact, one of those "too good to be true" type ones - it was bidding at about 1500 less than similar models were going for, and it was nearby (this is a stickler as very few seem to come up in Scotland for sale for some reason?). It was listed as "will deliver", the photos looked great. Anyway - I messaged the seller and asked some more indepth questions and said I wanted to come and see it. The message I got back in return was quite simplistic in English (like a non-English speaker had written it), gave me all my answers and stated that all transactions had to be through Ebay/Paypal and the trailer would come with a 14 day money back guarantee, but didn't answer when I could pop over to view it (it was about an hour away from me), so I messaged back and said I was interested, would he take a buy it now price and when could I pop over to view it and I would arrange to pick it up. Got a message back saying he would take buy it now and gave me a price - still about a grand less than other models were going for (by now though there was 2 other bidders going against the trailer - I hadn't bid though), but stated that the sale was to go through ebay only and I could not view it, and it would be delivered to me only with 14 day money back etc.

Something just didn't add up, I couldn't understand why he didn't want to let me view it - sounded a big suss - if he didn't want to meet at "home" in case I was a dodgy buyer, then why not arrange to meet somewhere neutral - and why the persistance on they would deliver and give this 14 day thing? It just didnt' sit right, so I walked away from it, never even placed a bid - then the husband bought me a trailer a couple of weeks later

I've never tried to sell horse stuff on ebay, but I did try to sell a pair of hand made crystal glasses, never used, still in original packing, but they didn't even get a bid - tried to sell my son's pram, not a single bid, eventhough the starting price was really good and it is totally immaculate.

Ebay can be a great place, but sometimes I think people are trying to get something for nothing.

Good luck selling your stuff though

If your looking for a heavyweight in a 6'6 you can get them for less than £40 from Robinsons. I have a few of their rugs and they are good quality etc x
