Default Useful things

Thought it might be good if we had a central place to put useful things we've found, be it tips, useful products, websites whatever.....

Here's the ones I've found recently
Website called Equine Compare that compares online prices for equine products

Have this on the horses stable so that if we're out and there's an emergency, if anyone is looking for us they can find our numbers etc.

Tesco car washers - 99p a throw

- add yours if you think it's a good idea , ignore if not

I can't think of any of my own off the top of my head but it is a good idea... seriously though MOB, you need to tidy your writing up on the emergencies board- no one will be able to read those contact numbers looking like that

Gread thread Jo!

Use gardening gloves at all times through the winter when around the horses, I buy these ones (showa or atlas)

I put disposable rubber gloves over them when mucking out to keep them clean.

You will never have cold hands, cracked skin, frostbite or have a 'horsey' smell on your hands in the winter months.

I also ride in mine

ETA: Jo what do you use the car washer for?

Keep your rugs in plastic boxes, keeps them organised, clean and easier to store.

I use Heavy Duty Red Rubber Gloves for poo picking.
You can find them for about £1.
They last for ages
Not easily holed so no accidental horse poo under the fingernails!
They're easy to put on because they're quite big
You can also put a thin pair of gloves underneath for warmth in the winter.

Sorry no pictures, but I'm sure you know the type - red with a white elasticated cotton at the wrist.

I use them for for giving them a bath Louise - one side's slightly abrasive so gets rid of mud, stains etc, the other side's general washing

Those showa/atlas gloves that vels mum said are great, the only gloves that kept my hands warm and dry last winter if you put disposable gloves on top.
