Default Following cescars post - Star slipped

My friend clipped Star for me this morning, I forgot my camera so popped back to the yard early this afternoon to get a few pics. I shouted Star, now we haven't really bonded yet and she usually ignores me when I call her but no, she came cantering across. Then she slipped, her back leg went from under her.

The fell on her side twisting her hip as she went, instantly knew it wasnt good. Her off hind was sticking out awkwardly. I put her headcollar on and walked her to the stable, all the way she was kicking her near hind with her off one as it was flapping

Called YO who raced down and we honestly thought leg was broken. Vet came in 15 mins. Said it looked worse than it is thankfully. She has either pulled her hip or stifle or both, its impossible to tell at the moment. She is on box rest with bute and I have to walk her in hand twice a day.

So beware - if you have winter turnout, dont call your horse

Sounds like what happened to Flash - he is under the watch of the Osteopath now, 12 weeks after whatever happened he still isn't 100% but thankfully off bute and back on turnout.

Hope she gets better soon, fingers crossed xxx

That must have been awful to see.Very frightening when you think they have done some serious damage. Hope she is sound quickly and can go back out, but hopefully she wont go tearing around when she is aloud back out.
