Our gang are pretty playful and have a game most mornings.
It usually starts with Megan bucking a few times on the spot and kicking out, winding everybody up. Then Hasty rounds everybody up ready for a mad charge around the field. Hasty leads the boys and Megan concentrates on making sure she beats Hasty in the race .
At some point Kilo inevitably gets beaten up, which he's very good-humoured about but occasionally he has a tantrum and runs off bucking and kicking (if he gets hurt I would imagine). Vinny at 17 is wise enough to keep himself safe and doesn't get involved in any fights but he can't resist a race.
Kilo and Hasty have got really into boxing lately, which is amazing to watch especially when they rear .
But I think the best games our field has seen were when Loumoo's Dylan was still here. Dylan is so nimble and clever that a big lump like Hasty has no hope of catching him.

Well at the moment the patchy ponies are still in detention, but are being let out on day release when we are there to supervise.
So Charlie and Alf disappear down the field, Charlie with Alf biting his back legs, and then Jasper and Arf do the same, although they seem to like sniffing each others front legs and then squealing. Arf is very aware of how tall jasper is to him and rears up to box him, while all Jasper has to do is lift his head lol.
On a naked day they will probably have a run round with Jasper looking like yhe three yr old doing plenty of airs above ground, and the 2 three yr olds and the two year old stands and think he's gone mad lol!!
When it's been raining we get a bit of a lake at one end of the field....the ponies love nothing more than splashing about in the puddle...pawing and even rolling in it! lol
On a normal day they do enjoy a good game of chase, though if they chase too hard Whisper gets fed up and jumps over the electric fence then stands there looking at them as if to say... " told you I'd had enough....but you wouldn't listen...now look at what you made me do!" lmao!
Ours play 'bite the knee' or 'bite the hock'... sometimes progressing to 'bite the chin'...and sometimes progressing to tug of war with rugs ... Starsky had one of his best playmates taken away from him... he was much smaller than starsky height wise but about twice as wide and they used to body slam eachother... lol!... generally they don't waste energy with any running around malarky...
Icarus has always been a playful soul, but no one ever wants to play with him (get out my tiny violin!)
Until now! theres a gelding in his field that he enjoys racing up and down at top speed, rearing up together and boxing and biting the backs of knees and hocks.
His favourite game, however, is one he invented all by himself. His poor playmate wears a headcollar all the time, and Icarus has worked out he can grab hold of it and pin his mate to the floor by his head!
Saf's favourite game is eating. She rarely does anything more dramatic than that in the field.
The babies are hilarious though. They'll be stood grazing quietly and the next minute they'll be bouncing off down the field as fast as their legs can carry them! Jasmine generally just plays Simon Says with Saffy as she's in total awe of her, whereas Honey plays Beat Up The Big Horses and does handstands in their faces. It's the kind of thing that should have the Benny Hill theme tune in the background.
Freya is the most playful out of my two.
She'll be happy nibbling at the grass and then, she's off! Full pelt around and around the field, jumping clumps of grass, any puddles, kicking and bucking, twisting and turning. So fast she oftens falls over on her 90degree turns! Then its quickly get up, look around to make sure no-one saw her, quick shake and off she goes again. This can go on for half hour or more.
Sometimes she taunts Max to come play with her, nudging him, kicking up her heels at him and rearing, then running tight circles around him.
If the field is flooded, she'll run up and dow th puddles with her nose in the water maing huge splashes.
She plays tag with my GSD. She'll chase Sadie then turn around for Sadie to chase her.
When Max does play, its usually windy or when mum is included.
Both will come over to me and wait expectantly for me to clap my hands and then off the pair of them go, kicking, bucking and rearing, around the field a couple of times then back to mum waiting for me to clap my hands again.
With either of them, you only have to say 'race you' and they are off!
