Not come across anything that beats Racesafe. Expensive but soooo worth it. Like you I used to have an airowear but hardly ever wore it - I think I wore about 2 times in 3 years that I had it. I paid £120 or so for a racesafe and because it is so comfortable I wear it nearly every time I jump.
I'd never have anything else now. I'd rather pay £120 for something I actually use, than £80 for something I don't. If you look at it as price per wear - the airowear cost me £40 each time I wore it because I only wore it twice, my racesafe works out at about 25p each time because I've worn it so often!!
racesafe ones are as good as it gets and really arent that pricey, most body protectors are around the £100 mark for it to be a level three protection anyway and the racesafe are custom fit basically and are so comfy,
Racesafe are brilliant. Custom fit, I have broad shoulders, large boobs, slimmer waist (well it was when I bought the back protector, had to let it out a little recently) and a v.short body, with a mish mash of pannels I have my perfect body protector that fits. All other makes of BP just perch off my boobs and are so uncomfortable.
What colour you going to get, mines just the bog standard navy blue with white shoulder pads.
Definitely Race safe, i oyl got mine thiw year but it is so comfortable, i hated my other BP and rarely wore it, but feel happy weaing this, the panels allow it to mould to your shape rather than stick out and you can actually move in it. I had one fitted in a tack shop and then bought the same size off ebay for about £80, obviously doesnt work if you need a custom size though.
Mines navy too, as i couldnt get the bottle green one cheap, although it would have been better and matched my Xc colours.
