Do you mean it's hard to get a 1st at a show?

It takes time and patience. My girls worked hard for two years to get their ponies fit enough to win at SJ and showing is also hard work and to get a first in proper showing is a real honor.

^^^^ What Mandi said!

Competing and riding in lessons or on your own horse are totally different. You can be a very good experienced rider and still not win a first place at a show. But that's not to say you won't win one! It's all about what happens on the day, hopefully luck will be on your side!

Its not about getting a 1st, its about enjoying the show with your horse. And the rossette is just a fab bonus!

I've been riding for over 30 years and I have never won a first at a show. Riding is all about having fun for me and winning stuff would just be an added bonus. There are also a lot of very talented riders out there so you have to be the best of the best to win and that is a difficult thing.

Forget about getting a first to start with and just go to shows for the fun and experiences you can have, then when you do win a rossette its just extra special because you didn't go expecting to get one!
