if she were mine i would take the feathers off pull her mane and show her as a show hunter pony, and i think she would probably be a good worker in the future, theres no point having her feathery if she cant do M&M and she might look more of a type once she has had a make over,

you might be suprised when you do, she possibly isnt as chunky as you think and maybe will fit very nicely inot a catergoy, feathers can really be deceptive, we took the feathers off one of the cobbier types at the riding school and she has suprsing skinny legs under all the hair!

I'd definitely trim/pull/plait. Remind me what she is again? If she's a part bred then you'd have to plait anyway and if she's a full D then she wouldn't really look right up against others in an unreg class. If you're not sure though you could always take her in a couple of classes like riding club pony or equitation where they don't really have to look like anything in particular at low level and ask a couple of judges what they think. The majority aren't likely to keep their opinions to themselves

Sorry to butt into your post Starsky.. but I was thinking along the same lines for Candy, not for me to show of course, but if I ever manage to get someone to take her on part loan. In fact I could probably find it easier to get a loanee for her if she could be shown.

I can't show her in M&M because she's only got a Horse passport society Passport. I think her conformation makes her showable; (wouldn't mind some opinions of what people think about her in that regard though) so by the sounds of things here, she may still be able to be shown in something? would be nice to know as I'd ruled that out.
