Default Ice burns?

Uva walked quite a way today in the snow today, and when I went to pick her feet out and rubbed vaseline in I noticed she had some small deep pink patches on one of her back legs, around the coronet band almost like bruises- I think they might be ice burns? Is this possible? Is there anything I can do about this? She was too unsettled with the move and the bad weather this evening to be in, so I have left her with her stable open, and a small paddock and double rugged her, but she was choosing to stand out in the snow still

The wetness of snow can cause sores, pretty similar to us when our skin goes sore and pink if we've been laid on it!

Can you not shut her in the stable to help to dry her legs? I know she's unsettled but they don;t have the sense to know that they need to be dry to help themselves

I think the state she was in this evening she would have come over the top of the door, havnt seen that unsettled ever, but the wind and everything was awful when we came to bringing her in.

Il try and put her in during the day tomorrow while I am there to get her used to the new surroundings. Ive got some leg wraps too so will wrap them to dry them out and I can apply something. It jsut wasnt feasible this evening.

Bailey's only been out about once a week since the snow started. Poor fella. I went to pick his feet out when I was there yesterday and the poo/mud in them had frozen, I had a hell of a job!! I'm going to put some vaseline in to see if that helps but I'm not sure it will really.

Could be like an ice burn yes.

I would dry the leg off thoroughly and use Aloe Vera gel
