Ollie is a Trakkhener
I always used to hear that trakhs are really sharp and a bit difficult to deal with but ive know quite a few recently and they are dead sweet and nice horses, Ollie is dead clam and sensible and is a really cuddly kind of guy

the interesting thing about a trak is where ever its bred its still a trak, where as the other warmblood breeds are named after where they are bred, there is also quite a lot of trak in other warmblood breeds as they are often finer and have a bit more of an arab look about them so they are used to refine some of the more common looking breeds

Ollie has been bred for Show jumping and has gained money abroad and in the UK, he came from Holland about seven years ago, he has won some BSJA money and has jumped round bsja120's and now competes in dressage he has earned 135 points and competes at elementary

I really quite like the traks i met recently and i woudl definately have another one i think

i dont think trakhener's are really a true breed. i know an anglo arab stallion and a TB stallion who are licenced as trakhener's. theyre a more thoroughbredy warmblood/sporthorse

thats becasue most stud books allow horses onto a non breed registery to refine the horses within the stud book,

the apploosa sociteys for example, allow horses that are appaloosa cross with arab, QH and TB onto the main pure bred registery as it is seen to help improve the breed

yes but the appaloosa societies dont have TB's registered with them as Appaloosa's (they are just an aproved outcross). These horses just passed an assesment and hey presto they were registered trakheners.

if you look up FAIRLYN GEMINI he's an anglo arab that has been graded to be good enough to be in the Trakehner stud book.
Whereas with the british appaloosa society you can breed with an aproved outcross but they go in a slightly different register and you then have the chance to grade up through breeding that offspring with an aproved appy

they have changed that rule then cause it never used to matter just so long as the one parent was pure bred and the horse came out spotty

Was interested, so just looked this up. It says that they allow a certain number of TBs, Anglo Arabs and Arabs to be graded into the studbook. But - the horse's name is then followed by XX if TB, X if Anglo, and OX if Arab. The offspring of one of these with a Trakh mare is considered pure Trakh.
