Default In-Hand ADVICE NEEDED

Hi, I was wondering for In-hand classes, such as young stock 3 years and under would a hogged mane be marked down, or perhaps in a mountain and moorland in hand class? In other words does your horse have to have a plaited mane or just a mane to be placed successfully ? He is a part bred newforest gelding. Thankyou

It would be marked down in an M&M class for sure as it is not turned out true to type!
In the 3yo and under class it probably wouldnt matter so much i dont think!

For M&M he really needs to have a mane, youngstock he wouldn't be placed well with a hogged mane. They need to look like they've just been tidied up after living n the moorlands for years, as in full feathers, whiskers mane etc. Any trimming needs to be subtle. You shouldn't be able to tell you've done anything. Good luck!

As your pony is a part bred it should be plaited . M&M classes are for pure breeds only even at local level. Some do unregistered classes but the pony might not be registered but still should be a full bred.
