Offical Recognition Of Fjord Horse Studbook Society/Fjord Horse Registry of Scotland WithdrawnThe Scottish Government have announced they are withdrawing Official Recognition from the Fjord Horse Studbook Society, also known as the Fjord Horse Registry of Scotland, based at their President Mr. David Stewart’s home at South Denhill, St Katherine’s, Aberdeenshire. The Scottish Government have concluded the Society no longer meets the criteria for recognition of organizations which maintain or establish stud-books as specified in the Annex to EU Commission Decision 92/353/EEC, & accordingly recognition is withdrawn & will take effect from 29th February 2008. Notices to this effect have been placed in principal equestrian magazines by the Scottish Government. As a consequence of this Decision, the Fjord Horse Studbook Society-Fjord Horse Registry of Scotland’s official stud book status is being revoked and it will no longer be authorized to issue passports. Any passports they have issued will become invalid. The Notice also draws attention to the fact that the Fjord Horse National Stud Book Association (FHNSA) whose web site is at http://www.fjord-horse.co.uk , will provide legal passports to all those affected. FHNSA is the original National pre-eminent Organization for the Fjord Horse. Fjord owners with passports issued by the Scottish Society have three months from 29th February to apply for a new passport. Failing to do so will result in owners breaking the law. Those who have applied for, but never received passports from the Scottish Society are urged to contact FHNSA of GB immediately, as they are already breaking the law. Those who have applied to the Scottish based society for passports from other countries to be updated are also urged to make contact as these animals must be properly registered in the UK. The Fjord Horse National Stud Book Association wish to assure all fjord horse owners/keepers affected by the Scottish Government Decision that they have undertaken to issue passports to all affected fjord horses in accordance with Government Regulations. All Fjord Horse owners are welcome to apply. Every effort will be made to swiftly place applicants and their horses in a legal position. All applications, at whatever level, will be catered for.
